Working Alongside Selectors - Example
A charity engaged in selecting personnel for working overseas approached Bridge for expertise in assessing the suitability of their candidates. As most would be going to work in a completely foreign culture, and in conditions that would be quite unlike any they had lived in before, the selection process was seen to be vital in insuring that candidates would have the resilience to manage the change in circumstance.

After consultation it became clear that there was a need for specific professional expertise in the assessment of resilience, and Bridge was asked to work alongside managers in the organisation to add that professional view.

This view has been used to help clarify the location and specifications of the placement of the candidate once the selection has been agreed. This has worked well over several years. As in all our experience of providing advisors in selection the decisions are taken by the managers within the organisation. However Bridge consultants have been able to provide an expert view that has helped to inform these decisions.

In the few cases where there have been problems in the placement the Bridge consultant has then been able to meet with the person involved, work with them on the problem that has arisen, and provide advice on its resolution.
