Interview Skills Training
Bridge consultants are experienced in training in skilled, structured interviewing, and in helping interviewers to be aware of the dynamics which make the difference between successful and ineffective or biased interviews.

Our training is tailored to the organisation’s particular needs and the participants’ level and experience of interviewing. Participants usually want to focus on developing their selection interviewing skills, but the skills learned will also enhance participants’ performance in other interviews and one-to-one meetings.

Purpose of the Training
  • To teach interviewers to be clear about the purposes of their interviews
  • To help interviewers engage with interviewees to facilitate a real interaction where both feel they have done their best work
  • To teach interviewers how to gather best evidence about a candidates’ competencies and behaviours
  • To provide equivalence in the interviewing process, improving understanding and fairness

Our Approach
Interview skills are developed throughout the course by a mix of theoretical understanding, practical exercises and interview simulations, with feedback and discussions. These all grow in complexity and involvement to the point where participants feel equipped and confident to carry out structured, focussed interviews.

Sessions include basic listening, question formulation and elaboration skills, structuring and managing the interview relationship, and recording and analysing information. Participants receive feedback from trainers, colleagues and interviewees.

There is an emphasis on the importance of each interview situation, so that it can be fresh and challenging, facilitating both interviewer and interviewee to work at their best.

Our Interview Skills Training can be offered as an integral part of our Training in Selection or Appraisal Training, or as a separate stand-alone training.
