Our training includes:
Introduction to the Selection Process
This is an introduction to the requirements of a rigorous, fair
and effective selection process, and the development of that process.
We work through the stages of defining selection criteria, developing
a process to gather evidence of those criteria, and developing
a scoring or grading system.
Familiarisation with Selection Criteria
A key part of our training ensures that selectors are thoroughly
familiar with the criteria they will be assessing. This involves
training in recognising and evaluating the behavioural evidence
of these criteria as appropriate for the age and situation for
the candidates.
Selection Tools
This includes familiarisation with the tools most relevant to
the nature and level of the selection challenge of the participants.
It involves first hand experience of using these tools, which
may include Competency Based Interviews, Case Study Interviews,
Group Discussions, Candidates’ Presentations.
Assessing the Evidence
We focus on the skills of gathering and evaluating the relevant
evidence, taking into account the selectors’ subjective
responses. Participants practise using their scoring system and
work together on calibration.
Decision-making
Participants have the opportunity to work through a decision-making
process, where information may be pooled from a number of selectors
with evidence from a number of exercises.
We offer training in selection which is tailor-made to meet the needs of the organisation and the participants’ level and experience of selecting. We can focus with you on your particular selection challenges, whether for a single or multiple posts.
Current work ranges from seminars for Head Teachers and Governors on Selection for Leadership and Management in Schools, to 2 day trainings with junior and senior managers in a large multinational to implement all stages of their graduate management training scheme selection process.
